A Pirate. A Pet. A Plane.

Continuing with the Playmobil kick that I've been on, I've crossed over to the bad guys. Here is a pirate portrait that I did as part of an artist trade.

In other news, I will be leaving Thursday for California to attend the opening of TOYS @ Gallery 1988. If you're in the L.A. area, the opening is April 1st and starts at 7pm. Come check it out!

Here are two smaller pieces I did for TOYS (Gallery 1988, LA) to go along with my larger painting (previous post). These were a lot of fun and I'm already working on some more. Still playing with the idea of the Royal Navy, I based these off of the old uniform studies.

This is my painting for the TOYS show that opens April 1st at Gallery 1988 in LA. I'll be flying out for the opening and am psyched to go!

The Confederate Armed 'HMS PLAYMOBIL' Engaged in Enemy Attack, Flying the Confederate Armed Ensign"

I really enjoyed painting this piece. It was challenging for me to come up with an idea that I felt was sophisticated while still meeting the guidelines of painting a child's toy. ( Solution - make Playmobil into the Royal Navy) I also have two smaller paintings that go along with this that were also a blast to paint, I will post them soon!
